MD licensed CPM OR Phase 3 student willing to stay on after graduation (student position unpaid until graduation)

Red House Holisitic Health and Home Birth Care is looking for a Maryland licensed Certified Professional Midwife OR a phase 3 student (with a hope to continue working after graduation!) to join our team. We are located in Hagerstown, MD and serve a 65 mile radius including West Virginia and Pennsylvania which are alegal/unlicensed states. The midwife must live no further than 25 minutes from Hagerstown, MD, so relocation may be needed. 

We serve a fairly diverse group of clients, ranging from Plain/Mennonite and rural neighborhoods to urban or suburban locations. Inclusion and respect of all races, religions, backgrounds, gender identities, LGBTQ+ etc is a MUST here. 

We hope to find the ideal midwife by September 2024 and begin a 2-3 month training period shortly after. Work will begin January 2025.

  • As stated, must love and respect people from all backgrounds-a BIPOC midwife or student would be ideal for this job-very few BIPOC birth workers here

  • We operate on a truly informed choice basis in EVERYTHING we do-you must be willing to learn and possibly adjust your normal routines if needed

  • Will work with an experienced birth assistant at each birth

  • Maintains CPM credential and MD license 

  • Attends regular CPR and NRP training 

  • Maintains necessary bags/equipment/supplies-consumables only supplied by the office 

  • Attends approximately 50% of each client’s regularly scheduled office visits in the Red House Birth Care office. (Midwife will have regular set office days 1-2x per week)

  • Attends 1 prenatal home visit for each client with birth assistant 

  • Attends 1 postpartum home visit for each client (scheduled as needed)

  • Meetings with team regarding client care and shared decision making as needed

  • Completes all state paperwork and PKU testing

  • Shared on call schedule, alternating T/Th/Sa/Sun and M, W, F

  • 3 week vacation 2x per year

  • $2000 yearly vacation stipend

  • Salary will be paid per client birth and per prenatal/postpartum visit with $1000 MINIMUM monthly wage EVEN IF no births or prenatals were attended in that month

  • Monthly payroll

  • Estimated 4 births per month

  • Estimated 4-6 prenatals per week

  • Estimated $4,000-8,000 income per month depending on work load
