The California Nurse-Midwives Foundation BIPOC Scholarship

Eligibility: CNMF prioritizes funding student midwives with strong ties to California, first time scholarship applicants, and folks who demonstrate a commitment to strengthening the midwifery workforce through advocacy. We welcome applicants from CNM and CPM programs.

Deadline to apply: Application will close once we receive 25 applicants or by October 25, 2024 by 5pm PST (whichever comes first).

Interviews: For our 2024 application cycle, we will be holding 30 min interviews with applicants to learn about you and your vision for equitable midwifery care in California.

BIPOC Aspiring Midwives

Eligibility Requirements:

  • California Resident

  • Identify as Black, Indigenous, or a Person of Color

  • Demonstrates a commitment to pursuing an education in midwifery

  • Clear timeline leading up to when when they plan to apply to a midwifery education of choice (with a goal of becoming a Nurse Midwife or Licensed Midwife)

  • Describe where on their journey to midwifery school they are currently & how these funds will be supportive

Sacramento County Black Midwives Scholarship Program

Description: The Sacramento County Black Midwives Scholarship is available to California residents looking to become midwives.

Who Can Apply: Applicants must be a resident of the state of California, self-identify as Black or African American, be high school seniors, high school graduates (with a high school diploma or GED) or current undergraduate or graduate students. Qualified applicants must plan to enroll in a midwifery licensing program for the entire upcoming academic year.

Scholarship Amount: up to $25,000
