Clinical Department Updates
/Clinical Tracking App: Emergency Contact
Because your safety is of utmost importance to us, the CTA now has a field in the Student Profile page for you to enter your Emergency Contact information. Your preceptor will be able to view this information--but does not have the privilege to change the information in the field. Please take a moment to enter in the name and phone number of someone you would like to be contacted in case of an emergency, as soon as possible. It is my sincere hope that we will never need to use this field and as student midwives, I hope you can appreciate the benefit of having emergency plans in place--just in case!
Second Verification of Skills
NARM requires that all MEAC students complete a Second Verification of Skills for seven different skills. Please be sure that you have the most up to date form. Additionally, this form must completed by a NMI Enrolled Preceptor who is not your primary preceptor. This requires planning ahead to identify another NMI Enrolled Preceptor who can sign off on the Second Verification of Skills for you. To help students who are having difficulty identifying another midwife to sign the Second Verification of Skills form, Molly Dutton-Kenny and Tiffany Skillings are available to verify the skills and provide signatures through an online session.
Post-Graduation NARM Steps
Once you have confirmation that you have completed NMI graduation requirements, you are eligible to be a CPM Candidate and are encouraged to apply for the NARM exam. All of your clinical experiences that have been entered into the NMI Clinical Tracking App are saved in your student file at NMI and clinical credit is added to your transcript which is then sent to NARM. NARM does not receive a copy of your clinical documentation. NARM only receives a copy of your transcript. With confirmation of graduation from NMI, you will need to complete a NARM application packet for MEAC students/grads. You have the option to complete your application either online or by paper. Please note: Some of these forms may require a preceptor's signature. Additionally, only two of these forms are redundant from your NMI Clinical Documentation.
